Team member Claude Baldwin shares more stories from the road as our Coordinated Overdose Response and Engagement program rolled on this week: "The team visited eight homes today, and trained individuals how to use life-saving Narcan at three homes. One mother related that the after effects of COVID seemed to put her daughter in a deep rut of depression and anxiety. This reflects what we have heard anecdotally from colleagues in other states - we are seeing a sort of second-hand trauma for our youth in the wake of the pandemic. We were able to provide the contact information of a certified peer support specialist to mom - a welcome relief. And conversations about our substance-free social events and community of youth in recovery were a welcome surprise. Regardless of rain, sleet, shine - or on this day earthquakes - we impressed on the people we visited that there are people in this community that care. One person, one family at a time - we care." #RecoverTogether #RecoveryStories

In an article from Stanford Medical School, the new proposal for investing in addiction training was explained. “Having compassion for those patients, understanding the disease and being able to refer patients to effective treatment make a big difference” - Gordy Slack To read more: https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2022/04/addiction-medicine-curriculum.htm
