Meet David!

Meet David J. Miller

David has lived in the Columbia area for 26 years.  He comes to The Courage Center after 20 years of practicing law.

His passion for recovery arises from his own battle with addiction, which literally almost cost him his life.   He has been sober for more than 7 years.  Seeing the hand of God move in his life in being able to live sober made him realize his calling is to also see this happen in the lives of others.

After a lengthy search and transition out of the practice of law over the last 5 years, David will serve as our Director of Peer Support services in the Prisma Richland ED and Lexington Medical Center ED.  Additionally, David will serve as the Director of Faith-Based Community Affairs.

In addition to being a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS), he holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree: Secondary Education (English) from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania; a Graduate Certificate in Theology from Columbia International University (CIU); and a Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

David has previously served on the board of Reconciliation Ministries and continues to serve on the board of TnT Prison Ministries.  He continues to speak and mentor at Providence Home.

When he is not working, David loves to work out and can usually be found at MUV Fitness.  He also loves to travel, especially to his favorite city, Savannah, read all types of books, especially those related to recovery and history, and dog sit his favorite animal in the world, Coco, his ex-wife’s dog.  God, in and through sobriety, has made it possible for David and his Ex-Wife, Tracey, to be best friends today.
